Bridal campaigns have distinct casting criteria compared to prêt-à-porter fashion:
Bridal sample size: wedding dress samples are typically made in IT size 42–44 (EU 38–40). Models must fit these measurements exactly because structured gowns (bustiers, corsets, internal frameworks) do not adapt easily. Unlike prêt-à-porter, there is no margin for pins and clips.
Formal bearing and grace: a wedding dress imposes specific posture — straight back, long neck, open shoulders. Models must be able to walk in a floor-length gown with a train, manage a veil, descend stairs and interact with the groom (or a second model) in a natural and romantic way.
Bridal hair and make-up: bridal sets typically involve artistic make-up and elaborate ceremony hairstyles. Models need sufficiently long, thick hair for traditional bridal styles (chignon, waves, half-up) or must be willing to work with quality extensions.
Couples for wedding campaigns: many bridal campaigns require a couple — bride and groom. The male model must wear formalwear (tuxedo, tailcoat, bespoke suit) with the same formal bearing required of the bride. Chemistry between the two is critical and is tested at a pre-shoot fitting.
